Q. I have a persistent stinging sensation on my skin – all over – that varies in intensity. There is no visible rash or associated itch; a dermatologist was of no help. This began out of the blue and has not let up for the past 10 days. I am 53, 5 yrs into menopause. Have you heard of this and/or treated this?
A. Yes, I have seen and treated complaints similar to yours. It sounds like you are experiencing a form of neuritis i.e. an irritation of the nerves that go to your skin. It may be related to hormonal changes in your body. It could also possibly be a side effect from a medication or cosmetic you are using.
